Region
While the Marche is best known for their white wines, in particular Verdicchio, however it may surprise you to know that there are more red grape plantings than white with Sangiovese and Montepulciano being the top percentage of grapes grown.
Variety
40% Montepulciano, 40% Merlot, 20% Petite Verdot.
The typical style of a Marche Rosso. Classic red blend of the historic region of the Marche, smooth, easy drinking with bright red and black fruit. Juicy, but dry and very food friendly.
Producer
Domodimonti is owned by the Bellini family. They are very focused on sustainability — all the electricity and power used by the Domodimonti winery comes from certified renewable sources. All practices are organic, and great measures are taken to preserve the natural environment of the vineyards. The grapes are grown sustainably, with no chemicals or machines used in the vineyard. No sugars, acids or additives are used in winemaking and minimal sulfites.
Domodimonti’s style is fruit-forward, pure, clean and well-balanced wines.
Serving
12-15 degrees Celsius, in a Bordeaux glass. This allows the fruit to shine, and the glass allows the bouquet to develop and the wine to achieve its best balance. Not too warm as to dampen the freshness in this wine.
The Nose
Blackberry, cherry, plum, tobacco, leather, rose.
Tasting Notes
More fresh and red berried, plum, medium-bodied with light tannin, good acidity and flavour.
Food Pairings
Restaurant: Pairing: Roasted Maple hills chicken, fried rosemary, grilled lemon.
Home: Pizza, sausage wrapped olives, tomato or meat based pastas.
