Region
Only wines made with 100% Gruner Veltliner are allowed to use the Weinviertal DAC designation. The area's warm days and cool nights are ideal for developing light-bodied Gruner with great fruit intensity and steely acidity.
Variety
Austria’s native grape variety, Gruner Veltliner is the country's flagship grape. Although Gruner’s popularity has waned in recent years, there are many reasons to expect it’s popularity to return. Many consumers are looking for products with lower ABV and the wines from Weinviertal in particular deliver great tasting wines that are light and fresh.
Producer
Winemaker Roman Josef Pfaffl developed his parents’ small 2 acre family farm into a 50 acre internationally recognized winery. The entire family’s dedication to quality begins in their biodiverse vineyards that are still maintained by Roman Josef’s father. The winery was named European Winery of the Year in 2016.
Serving
Every Somm out there is going to tell you that you are drinking your white wines way too cold. I think this wine is a perfect exception to that rule. This is a perfect aperitif wine that is refreshing and light and is best served from the fridge directly to your patio.
The Nose
Crisp green apples and white pepper.
Tasting Notes
Classic Gruner Veltliner notes of lemon, herbs and spice.
Food Pairings
Restaurant: Bacaro is our modern Northern Italian wine bar that celebrates Venetian aperitivo culture with cicchetti. These assorted small bites are a staple in the local bars of Venice and are a perfect snack to enjoy with this wine.
Home: Probably our bathing suits…

Why We Like It
This wine is well made by real people who really give a damn about what they are doing. A no fuss crowd pleaser that should always be stocked in your fridge and ready to pour.
