Why We Like It

Deep ruby in colour, this red blend offers intense aromas and flavours of fruit and spices. Full-bodied with a velvety texture and balanced tannins makes this wine the definition of elegance. Made primarily from the Carignano grape, this wine is aged 12 months in oak barrels before being bottled up and making its way to your dinner table.

What We Taste

Full body and deep coloured wine but tannins are gentle. Intense dried fruits, plum, liquorice and sweet spices (like cinnamon and cloves) from 12-month oak aging.

What We Smell

Blueberries, floral, baking spices.

Region

Sardegna (also known as Sardinia) is the second largest island in the Mediterranean Sea. The varieties planted in this region bear little resemblance to those in any other Italian region with the main grapes being Grenache, Carignan, and Vermentino. The island also makes use of several exclusive and indigenous varieties such as Nuragus and Monica. Wines produced in Sardinia retain their distinctive character and hardly exist outside of the island making them rare and hard-to-find. Consider yourselves lucky if you get a hand on one of these bottles!

Producer

Agricola Punica is one of the most promising names in global wine production. Founded as a joint venture between Cantina Sociale di Santadi and Tenuta San Guido, the winery produces two iconic wines using the Carignano grape. The company started in 2002 when Italian winemaker Giacomo Tachis became interested in Sardinia and persuaded fellow winemaker Sebastiano Rosa to buy land there. Nineteen years later, here we are sippin’ on their juice, so it’s safe to say that this venture was a resounding success.
