Chardonnay: easy to pronounce, flavourful, and versatile. People either love it (or think) they hate it, but despite the stigma it still reigns as one of the world’s most popular grapes. This wine we’re bringing you in particular is 100% unoaked but yet retains the richness and creaminess of a typical Chardonnay. It’s fresh, textured, and tangy, making it easy to drink and leave you wanting more.

Mâconnais (mah-koh-neh) is the southernmost entry point to the Bourgogne wine growing region and is characterized by rolling landscapes and monumental cliffs. Here is where you’ll find “authentic France”, with its old style farmer’s markets, country B&Bs, traditional dishes, and small producers passionate about their vineyards. In this region, the Chardonnay grape reigns supreme as it represents 80% of all vines planted. So, it’s safe to say that Mâconnais knows a thing or two about producing a knockout Chardonnay.
Domaine de la Denante was founded in 1975, and ever since Damien Martin arrived at the family’s vineyard in 2010, it has doubled both in surface area and number of cuvees (French wine term meaning vat or tank). Martin focuses heavily on sustainable methods and the winery is now in the process of converting to fully certified organic viticulture. This young man clearly brought in some BIG ideas, so it’s no surprise he was awarded the “Young Talent Trophy” in 2020. Protecting the earth, while making great wines… what more could you ask for?
